World of Design: The Designers
My inspiration, Coco Chanel, the timeless French Designer, who is unforgettable for her fragrances, trademark suit, quilted handbag and the little black dress. She made an effort to make luxury comfortable. A revered style icon known for her simple yet sophisticated outfits paired with great accessories such as several strands of pearls. In 1925, she introduced the legendary Chanel suit with collarless jacket and well-fitted skirt. Her revolutionary designs borrowed elements from men's wear and emphasised comfort over the constraints of then confining garments like corsets. Longevity of her designs make her a strong pillar of fashion industry. From modest beginnings to international acclaim, her rags-to-riches story is a strong echo that continues to captivate people . Class is forever.Moving on to the US, Donna Karan (founder of DKNY Label) is one of the most influential designers in the world. Uptown New York chic in the essence her mission is to 'design modern clothes for modern people'.In 1988, Donna launched more affordable fashion line, Donna Karan New York(DKNY) inspired by her signature collection. Then it was jeans and since then host of ancillary products have been created under the DKNY name, from children's clothes to furniture. The design aesthetics of the brand are clothes that transition seamlessly from day to night for the younger consumer who is still finding herself and her sense of style. That said; DKNY’s DNA is noticeably more eclectic and fashion forward than Donna Karan New York, and it appeals to the younger female consumer who needs items in her wardrobe that she can mix and match throughout the season.
